We know we live in dark times, and this is especially true for you if you’re dealing with spiritual oppression, bondage, curses, or torment. We are living in the last days when the Bible said that love would grow cold, people would love pleasure more than God, and people would no longer want the truth but would surround themselves with those who tell them what they want to hear. As the world has gotten spiritually darker, spiritual oppression has increased.
If you are experiencing spiritual oppression and seeking deliverance, be encouraged. There are many obstacles in the way to deliverance nowadays, but deliverance can still be had. The following are some helpful points for you as you seek deliverance:
- Make sure to vet any deliverance ministry you contact. Ask them how they approach ministry, how long they’ve been in ministry, how many people have experienced some deliverance under their ministry, etc. Also, ask them if they have ministered to someone who is dealing with the same issue(s) you’re dealing with. This is important so you better know what you can expect from a ministry. Also, anyone can go into public or private ministry or practice, but not everyone is necessarily qualified in their field. Furthermore, different people minister deliverance differently. What works for some won’t necessarily work for others.
- Seek spiritual support. Tell a few Christians you trust about your spiritual struggle and your need for deliverance, and ask them to support you in prayer.
- Trust God alone for deliverance, and be ready to persevere. God does most of His work on earth through human beings– from natural things such as building businesses and communities to spiritual and Kingdom work. So, people do the ministering, but any blessing finds its origin in God alone: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17). No one wants you delivered as much as God does. But you might have obstacles to overcome before you get deliverance.
