The world has changed over the years for the worse and, according to the Bible, will continue to get worse until abominations– things that everyone frowns on or used to frown on– are practiced and praised publicly. Speaking of the last days, in which we now are quickly approaching, Jesus told His disciples, “Brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 10:21-22).
America has become a toxic nation. Some people talk about ‘toxic people’ and ‘toxic relationships’ or about ‘narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths’; yet they never compare and contrast the characteristics of those people or the definitions of those words with entire societies. In a toxic environment, family, neighborhood, region, culture, or society, you will find satan trafficking freely to and fro and a great deal of spiritual bondage following in his wake. As you seek deliverance, it’s important to consider the following things:
- Practice living a life of sanctification. On the day of Pentecost– 2,000 years ago– Peter strongly exhorted the crowd as they were yielding to his call to salvation, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation” (Acts 2:40). If the world was perverse 2,000 years ago, it most certainly is even more perverse now. Sanctification is when you separate yourself from the world– which means you stop pursuing and valuing the things the world pursues and values– and devote yourself to God which means you practice walking with God and valuing the things God values. This can aid you in your search for deliverance.
- Seek out Christians who are sincere about the things of God. There are different types of Christians. Some Christians are in a place or have reached a place where they have a sincere desire for God Himself– not just God’s blessings or a ministry or prestige in the Christian world but God Himself. They’re not pretentious or showy but are unassuming and on the surface don’t seem special. There is a difference between God and God’s gifts or blessings. Many people mistake God’s blessings for God’s favor or approval of them or their lifestyle. But in both Old and New Testaments, there are many examples of God blessing His people and disapproving of their lifestyle simultaneously. Christians who are serious or sincere about God will be a great benefit as you seek deliverance, if you can find them.
