We are and have been living in very hard spiritual times or spiritual times that are hard for many years. The more comfort and convenience in a society, the more spiritual compromise you can automatically expect. In Deuteronomy 8:10-18, God warned Israel to not forget Him when they entered the Promised Land and were surrounded by comfort and ease. True to human nature, when Israel entered the Promised Land and experienced the pleasures there, their devotion to God waned because of the ease and comfort they now had that they didn’t have in the wilderness. In times of comfort and ease, spiritual life and devotion tend to die, and spiritual oppression and bondage tend to rise. If you are here because you or a loved one is struggling with spiritual bondage and seeking deliverance, please consider practicing the following points:
- Trust in God. This takes practice. It takes time to learn to trust anyone. Trust is not an emotion or even a feeling. It’s a choice or decision. It’s similar to casting a vote for a candidate. It’s almost like a gamble in that you’re hoping that your vote was cast for the right candidate. The Bible says, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:5).
- Get spiritual support. The Bible says that Christians need each other. Get support from a few Christians as you embark on your journey to deliverance. If you don’t have anyone for support, ask God to connect you with at least one mature Christian for encouragement. Meanwhile, ask God to encourage you.
- Be ready for the long haul. There are many people who are in need of deliverance and who don’t have it. A lack of laborers is one reason for this. Be ready to persevere and dig in as you seek deliverance and wait on God.
