As of today, May 22, 2022, the world has changed a lot, just like Jesus predicted, and has gotten worse. In the midst of all the present greed, selfish ambition, self-centeredness, unhealthy (narcissistic) self-love, and the chaos and rumors of war around the world, spiritual bondage is increasing among non-Christians and Christians alike. If you are seeking deliverance, the following points can help you navigate your way better:
- Sanctify your life to God. This topic is one that is neglected in most Christian circles but that is a big part of the Bible and that is foundational to victorious living as a Christian. Becoming ‘saved’ without living a life of sanctification is comparable to getting married but never having sex: sure you’re still married, but things are sure to fall apart one way or another because the natural progression was not implemented. Paul said, “Dear brethren, present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to the pattern of the world any longer, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:1-2). Sanctification (or presenting yourselves as a living sacrifice, taking up your cross as Jesus said) is a Christian’s “reasonable service” the same way sex is expected and reasonable in a marriage. Sanctification protects you more and more from sin and the enemy and makes deliverance from bondage easier.
- Get support. Christianity is a religion based on community. We can’t prosper alone and need each other. Tell two or three Christians you trust what you’re dealing with and needing help with, and ask them for prayer support.
- Trust God. When the Bible mentions words like ‘trust, hope, faith, love’, those things are quantifiable. When you trust God, hope in God, have faith in God, or love God, it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be existent.
