We are living in tumultuous times. Depending on where you live, some people can’t really feel much of the chaos. Since the Fall of man in Eden, the earth has been in turmoil and longing for God to restore things to their original condition. Paul mentions some of this: “The creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption… For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now… eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body” (Romans 8:21-23). As the times get worse, spiritual oppression also gets worse and becomes more widespread.
If you or a loved one is experiencing spiritual oppression or bondage and are seeking deliverance, consider the following points which may be able to help you as you pursue deliverance:
- Sanctify your life to God. The Bible says that Christians are to live a life of sanctification and calls it part and parcel of the Christian life: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2). Sanctification is not easy but has many benefits two of which are more protection from the enemy and from sin as well as making deliverance easier when it comes.
- Seek mature Christians. From Genesis to Revelation, you see that there are different levels of maturity among God’s people. In 1John 2, John says that there are spiritual children, spiritual youth, and spritual parents. Ask God to connect you with Christians who are maturing because they are more willing and available to support you in prayer and maybe help you with deliverance.
- Trust God. Trust God that He wants to deliver you from spiritual bondage as He says in His Word. Trust is a decision of the will rather than a feeling, like casting a lot or bet for one side. Sooner or later, God delivers those who trust Him and who wait patiently for Him.
