Many people who are seeking deliverance are having a hard time finding someone to help them. As Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Luke 10:2). So, in seeking deliverance, you might have to exercise perseverance. Here are some tips that can be very beneficial when seeking deliverance ministry:

  1. Exercise your faith. Many people haven’t found deliverance in spite of seeking it for years sometimes. This is partly because “the laborers are few” in deliverance ministry. There are also other dynamics that can make finding deliverance difficult. You will probably have to exercise or ‘work out’ your faith. Faith is like a muscle that only grows and gets strong with exercise. Exercising your faith for deliverance has to do with trusting God and His Word even when your experience contradicts both. God wants you to be free. Believing that despite contrary feelings and experiences takes an exercise of faith.
  2. Ask for help. There are some circumstances and obstacles in life in which we need outside assistance. Ask other believers for prayer support as you seek deliverance. If you have no one to ask, then ask God to send encouragement through other avenues until you get deliverance.
  3. Seek out the right ministry. Pray and ask God to direct you to the right person(s) for deliverance. Also, ask any believer you trust or any support people you have to pray for and with you for God to lead you to the right person(s) for deliverance. Jesus told a parable with the lesson that “men always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1). Call around your local churches and ask if they have someone who can help you with deliverance from spiritual bondage.
  4. Practice humility. God made human beings in such a way that we don’t have anything to brag about. Because of our carnal/sin nature, most people have lost sight of that fact. Practicing humility is learning to see things (yourself and others) as they really are– the good, the bad, and the ugly. God works best with honesty; the more honest you are, the closer God will be to you and the greater your overall experience of Him will be: “What You are after is truth from the inside out” (Psalm 51:6; The Message Bible).
  5. Re-prioritize your lifestyle around the real facts. The Bible says that the spiritual enemies of God (principalities, etc.) are at war with God’s people, even if God’s people are unaware of it. This warfare affects us, so it behooves us to align our lives around spiritual realities regarding God and regarding the enemy– to practice obedience and spiritual discipline (ie. put on the full armor of God) and to live a life of internal devotion to God which is able to sanctify (ie. protect) a Christian from both sin and satan.
