If you live in or around Salt Lake City and are seeking deliverance, consider these helpful tips as you seek a deliverance minister:
- Know your enemy. In talking about His deliverance ministry, Jesus explained that ‘strongmen’ guard those who are in spiritual bondage and will only grudgingly give up their captives if Jesus forces them to: “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own place, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overpowers him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoils” (Luke 11:21-22). As you seek deliverance ministry, the ‘slavemasters’ or ‘strongmen’ who want to keep you in captivity will try to hinder or resist your progress and success. Being aware of this makes you likelier to stay the course and not be distracted or discouraged from seeking deliverance.
- Sanctify your life to God. This has to do with drawing near to God so that He can also draw near to you. James 4:7 says, “Submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Submitting to God comes first. Sanctifying your life to God or submitting to Him and doing what you know to be His will acts as a defense and buffer against the enemy which will be of great benefit as you pursue deliverance ministry.
- Gather support. The Bible calls the Church ‘the Body of Christ’ because it is one body with many interconnected, interrelated, and interdependent parts. To the extent that Christians function as a body, to that extent they experience God’s presence and promises and frustrate the devil’s plans in their lives. And to the extent Christians don’t function as a body, they experience failure and frustration. Get some believers you know and trust to support you with counsel, prayer, and encouragement as you seek deliverance ministry. This partially acts as an invisible covering against the devil’s tactics to frustrate your deliverance and also allows Jesus to be closer to you in manifestation according to His Word: “Where two or three are gathered in My name, there I am in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20).
- Seek out the right minister. Not every minister is for everyone. Finding the right one will require prayer, and supportive prayer from close friends and believers can help. The right minister might not be the first one. Even if you see several ministers and aren’t delivered, persevere until you find the right one.
